CHRC on Leadership Roles at Patient Innovation

The CHRC – Comprehensive Health Research Centre congratulates its researchers Ana Rodrigues, Rute Dinis de Sousa, and Sérgio Laranjo for taking on new and important leadership roles at Patient Innovation, an international platform dedicated to sharing innovative solutions developed by patients and caregivers.

Ana Rodrigues, CHRC Coordinator, was recently appointed President of the Executive Board and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Patient Innovation. A specialist in Rheumatology, Ana Rodrigues is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and Rheumatology at NOVA Medical School and at the Hospital do Santo Espírito de Angra do Heroísmo, and she leads the Rheumatology Unit at Lusíadas Hospitals. Her extensive clinical and academic experience, combined with a strong commitment to healthcare innovation, represents an invaluable contribution to the strategic growth of the association. This appointment also brings increased knowledge transfer and unique opportunities to CHRC.

As part of the renewal of the governing bodies of Patient Innovation, Rute Dinis de Sousa, Executive Director of the CHRC, was elected President of the General Assembly Board. Her appointment further strengthens CHRC’s institutional engagement in initiatives that promote active citizen participation in research and the co-creation of health solutions.

Sérgio Laranjo, also a CHRC researcher, has joined the same board as Secretary, contributing to the effectiveness and integrity of this deliberative body.

In addition to these appointments, Gemma Tria and Margarida Oliveira have been promoted to Co-Executive Directors of Patient Innovation, positions that ensure the operational coordination of the project.

Patient Innovation is a non-profit organisation and digital platform that enables patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to share solutions developed to face the challenges posed by chronic or rare conditions. The project has gained international recognition for its impact in promoting citizen-centred innovation.

CHRC congratulates all newly appointed members on their new roles and reaffirms its commitment to supporting projects that combine research, innovation, and social impact in the field of health.
