European Health Psychology Society Conference of 2024

The 38th Annual Conference of the European Health Psychology Society (EHPS 2024) took place in Cascais, Portugal, between the 3rd and 6th of September, and was attended by 1044 researchers, students and experts in the field of Health Psychology from 47 different countries. This important event featured CHRC researchers Marta Moreira Marques as Chair and Cristina Godinho as co-Chair. 

This Conference stood out as an excellent opportunity to share knowledge, experiences, innovative ideas and promote networking, consolidating itself as one of the largest international meetings in the area.

The International Conference was attended by prominent names in the plenary sessions, including:

• Jeremy Grimshaw (University of Ottawa, Canada), who addressed the topic “Implementing evidence-based policies, practices and behaviors: building the evidence”.

• Paschal Sheeran (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA), with the research on “Tasks in health behavior change”.

• Amanda Daley (Loughborough University, UK), who presented her research themed “Making whole healthcare appointments count: promoting health behavior change in primary care and community healthcare settings”.

• Sónia Dias (National School of Public Health at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Portugal), who presented the topic “Public health challenges and how to address them: the valuable contribution of the social sciences”.

These experts contributed valuable perspectives on the latest innovations and advances in Health Psychology, covering topics such as behavior change, implementation science, health promotion, and public health intervention.

In addition to the plenary sessions, the event provided a series of enriching activities, such as networking sessions, workshops and social activities, which allowed participants to interact, exchange experiences and establish future collaborations.

EHPS 2024 left a significant mark on the scientific community, reinforcing the central role of Health Psychology in promoting well-being and solving social and public health problems. The CHRC is proud to have been present at this extremely important event, supporting and collaborating with the organization for the success of the conference and thus promoting science in Portugal.

This meeting represents an important milestone for the development of Health Psychology and reaffirms the CHRC's commitment to continue contributing to innovation, the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of good practices in the area of ​​health.
