HERA Project supports women over 45 in acquiring new professional skills
The HERA Project – Helping Empower Women through Reskilling and Advancement is coordinated by the National School of Public Health and includes a team of CHRC researchers, such as Sónia Dias, member of the CHRC Executive Committee and Principal Investigator of the project, along with Maria João Marques, Carolina Santos, and Jesus Cortés.
This pioneering initiative aims to support women over the age of 45 in gaining new professional skills, promoting their reintegration and recognition within the labour market. In a time of rapid digital and sustainable transitions, ensuring access to reskilling opportunities is increasingly needed. HERA addresses the social determinants that impact well-being and access to opportunities, contributing across sectors to promote equity in health, social inclusion, and employability.
Beyond this core objective, the HERA project seeks to:
- Identify barriers and opportunities for women's professional reskilling;
- Develop innovative approaches to boost employability and career progression;
- Create networks and resources to foster lifelong learning and continuous development;
- Promote collaboration among organisations, policymakers, and businesses to enhance inclusion in the labour market.
The project is managed by a consortium of 10 partners from 8 countries, and is funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ programme, with a total allocated budget of €999,999.999.
