Scientific study from CHRC researchers wins the Sports Science Awards 2023
The work “Dynamic performance-exposure algorithm for falling risk assessment and prevention of falls in community-dwelling older adults” from the researchers of CHRC and the School of Health and Human Development - University of Évora, was awarded in the “Sports Science Awards” of the Portuguese Olympic Committee, in the category of Medicine in Sport.
The aim of this study was to design a dynamic performance-exposure algorithm for falling risk assessment and prevention of falls in community-dwelling older adults. With the participation of 500 Portuguese adults residing in the community, a follow-up was carried out with the assessment of retrospective and prospective falls and the respective performance-related, exposure and performance-exposure risk factors.
This study had the participation and authorship of Catarina Pereira, Hugo Rosado, Gabriela Almeida and Jorge Bravo, researchers from CHRC and ESDH-UÉvora.
