Behavioural Science and Social Innovation

Behavioural Science and Social Innovation

The group is constituted by an interdisciplinary team of researchers with an excellent national and international track record in public health, psychology and other behavior, social and health sciences. It aims to drive positive health and societal changes, and foster innovative solutions grounded in behavioral science, health promotion and citizen science. The research team will continue to be actively involved in national and international networks in the broad spectrum of health behavioral insights and social innovation (e.g. WHO, EUPHA, ECDC). Our research takes a collaborative approach through partnerships and co-creation of interventions and solutions that are relevant, culturally sensitive and inclusive, through active engagement with stakeholders, as policymakers, NGOs, community members, healthcare organizations and agencies, to enhance the outreach, effectiveness and sustainability of our initiatives. A core focus will be describing and predicting individual and collective human behavior and health determinants, across all CHRC thematic lines, as global health promotion, community empowerment, better healthcare, management of chronic disease, digital health, and the intersection with environmental sustainability. With a rigorous scientific approach, this knowledge is applied to design, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based interventions and policies that address complex health issues in an innovative, tailored, effective and sustainable way. Also, the group is committed to foster social innovation, to develop sustainable and scalable solutions that can effectively address social issues, reduce health inequalities, and serve as a catalyst for systematic change. The group will also address complex societal health challenges from a variety of perspectives that synergistically contribute to the advancement and implementation of rigorous and high-quality scientific methods and theories, towards effective interventions, solutions and policies.
