Biografia
I am a Biomedical Engineer with a strong educational background and relevant work experience. My journey began at Universidade de Lisboa, where I pursued a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences (2016-2019), achieving an average classification of fifteen points out of twenty. Throughout my time there, I had the opportunity to attend various esteemed colleges, including Faculdade de Medicina, Faculdade de Ciências, and Faculdade de Farmácia. This broad exposure helped me acquire a solid foundation in the field of health and medicine. Driven by my passion for improving healthcare and addressing the complex challenges facing the medical field, I pursued a Master's in Biomedical Engineering (2020-2022), at Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL), to gain the technical skills and knowledge needed to design and develop cutting-edge medical technologies that have the potential to transform patient care. During my studies, I was able to maintain a part-time job from 2018-2021 while also securing a 4-month paid-internship at Sociedade Avanço (2020) in the area of radiation/radiotherapy equipment maintenance. In recognition of my academic achievements, I was granted the excellence merit award by Direção Geral do Ensino Superior (DGES) in 2021. My academic work continued as I embarked on my thesis at the Laboratory of Engineering and Health in ISEL, working on the project PREMO (DSAIPA/DS/0117/2020), where I focused on the field of metabolomics. My objective was to establish a biomarker that may predict a patient's outcome in a hospital critical care unit using blood serum. I successfully completed this work with a final grade of nineteen points out of twenty. I graduated with an overall average classification of seventeen points out of twenty. Currently, I am continuing my research journey as a fellow researcher at the same laboratory where I completed my thesis. Currently I am publishing my thesis work at the ACS Omega journal and still preparing my second article as first author. I already have collaborated with other researchers on their scientific papers as I am co-author of one published article and another one submitted to Scientific Reports. In addition, I have submitted my proceeding work on metabolomics, and collaborated in two more, on the 7th IEEE Portuguese Meeting on Bioengineering (ENBENG 2023).
