Ana Maria Tavares

Biography
Ana Maria Tavares is a researcher at the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge (INSA) in the Genetic Toxicology Group of the Human Genetics Department. Her research work began in 2010 by studying the genotoxic effects of mycotoxins in human cells, and then in the field of nanotoxicology. She participated in European and national research projects, namely NANOGENOTOX and Mycomix. After her PhD in 2020 in Global Public Health, she joined the HBM4EU European Project, where she was involved biomonitoring studies aimed at evaluating the exposure and early health effects of occupational exposure to potentially harmful substances. In 2023, she joined the European Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals (PARC), in which she has been involved in several research projects focused on human biomonitoring and assessment of genotoxicity and non-genotoxic carcinogenesis of several chemical compounds.
