Catarina Pereira

Biography
Catarina Pereira is a Professor in the Sport and Health Department in University of Évora (Portugal) and has a PHD in Human Motricity from Human Motricity School of the Technical University of Lisbon. Her ID ORCID is https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8111-1455.
Her area of expertise is Aging and has developed research projects focused on maintaining functional fitness, autonomy and elderly safety. Catarina investigates the problem of falls and also the issue of violence applied against the elderly. Having developed several epidemiological studies, she created and tested several risk analysis and intervention models for prevention (primary, secondary or tertiary). The study of the effects of a new therapeutic intervention and exercise programs for elderly people living in the community and/or living in a nursing home is one of her main research interests as the creation of new assessment instruments (either physical kits or assessment instruments using new information and communication technologies resorting to multimedia devices) to determine the effect of the programs. Catarina Pereira has extensive didactic and scientific publications in the scientific area of aging and also in other areas of human motricity science. Several Catarina’s studies culminated in national and international patents that were approved and registered for products developed as part of her investigations. Catarina Pereira has developed multiple actions to disseminate knowledge to the community, either through communications to the scientific community or through other forms such as podcasts or the Massive Open Courses (MOOCs).
