Cristiana Von Rekowski
Biography
Cristiana holds a degree in Clinical Physiology at Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde de Lisboa (2019), and a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering (2022) from Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL). She has been working as a research fellow in the Laboratory of Engineering and Health at ISEL since 2020, in a FCT approved project involving the research of biomarkers using metabolomics, proteomics, and machine learning algorithms in the study of COVID-19. Her focus pertains to database construction, statistical analysis of demographic, clinical and laboratory data, and using this data on the consequent development of predictive models for the morbidity and mortality of critically ill patients. She also provides support in the classes of Regenerative Medicine and Advanced Medical Therapies for the master’s in biomedical engineering, with varied topics such as fundamentals of animal cell culture, isolation of mononuclear cells from whole blood, and analysis of diverse tissues. Currently, she is continuing her line of research, while being a Biomedicine Ph.D. candidate in Nova Medical School.
