Biography

Deborah Penque is a Principal Researcher with Habilitation in the Department of Human Genetics at the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge (INSA). She established and

has led a new research area—Clinical Proteomics—at INSA, whose ultimate mission is to provide society with novel diagnostic, prognostic, and follow-up tools based on proteomics, enabling truly personalized medicine. Her group’s main research interests include disease biomarker discovery and validation, toxicoproteomics, and the development of multi-omics-based technologies for precision public health applications. Penque is the former President and main co-founder of ProCuraOmicsPT – the Portuguese Proteomics Association, affiliated with the European Proteomics Association (EuPA) and the Human Proteome Organization (HUPO). The association aims to promote the integration of expertise and facilities across Portuguese research institutions and universities to advance proteomics in Portugal. She is also the leader of the INSA node in the Portuguese Mass Spectrometry Network (RNEM). Penque is an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences and Editorial Board member of the Journal of Proteomics (Elsevier), the Journal of Integrated OMICS, and Biology Journal (MDPI).
