João Gonçalves

João Gonçalves is the Coordinator of the Molecular Genetics Unit and Head of the Pathologies of Sexual Development Group within the Human Genetics Department at the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge (INSA), Lisbon. He obtained his PhD in Biology - Molecular Genetics from Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2003. In 2016, he received the title of Clinical Laboratory Geneticist (specialization in Molecular Genetics) by the European Board of Medical Genetics. His scientific interests include molecular studies of specific male infertile phenotypes and the development of molecular research in rare genetic diseases, as well as hereditary breast and colorectal cancers, with a focus on functional studies of genetic variants of uncertain clinical significance.
