José Caldas de Almeida

He obtained his MD degree from the University of Lisbon and received his Ph.D. in psychiatry from the NOVA University of Lisbon. Professor of Psychiatry and Mental Health at the NOVA Medical School, he currently is the President of the Lisbon Institute of Global Mental Health at the CHRC. He was the Chief of the Mental Health Unit at the Regional Office of the World Health Organization for the Americas, in Washington D.C. (2000-05), and leader of the EU Joint Action for Mental Health (2013-16).
