Biography

Lucinda Marques is a specialist in Medical-Surgical and Palliative Care nursing, currently pursuing a PhD in Health and Well-being Sciences. She completed advanced Stoma Therapy training and developed a practice integrating it into national standards. Recognized as a Stoma Therapist by WCET, she holds degrees in nursing, oncology, and palliative care, and has worked as a senior nurse and team leader in palliative and stoma care at Hospital da Luz. From 2018 to 2024, she was Health Coordinator for Elderly Residential Structures. Since 2020, she’s been a specialist registered with the Portuguese Nurses’ Order, regularly trains in Palliative Care, and has supervised over 1,900 hours of nursing students. She served on the Portuguese Palliative Care Association board and currently participates in advisory committees related to aging and social care. She has authored scientific articles and is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Évora, contributing to research focused on person-centered care for institutionalized older adults with palliative needs, aiming to improve accessibility and quality of care.
