Biography
I have a degree in Biomedical Technology, a Master Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technologies and I'm currently taking a PhD in Public Health. In addition, I am a Researcher at the Comprehensive Health Research Centre (CHRC) in which I am a Research Fellow and I am developing the project for my thesis. I am also a researcher at the Health and Technology Research Center (H&TRC), in the Environmental and Health Laboratory (microbiology), in which we carry out several projects (national and international) in the area of Occupational Health. The activities that I have a vast experience due to the engagement in several research projects are the following: Field work to assess occupational exposure to microbiologic agents; Laboratory logistics, such as media and solutions preparation, equipments and other devices organization; Bench work to extract the bioburden from all the environmental samples, microbiota counting, slides preparation for microscopic observation and fungal identification; DNA extraction, RT-PCR and fungi re-isolation; RNA extraction and RT-PCR for SARS-CoV-2 detection in environmental samples; Internships coordination for several students (Bachelor and Master students); Exhaustive search of papers available in scientific databases for discussion of the data obtained aiming for publication; Scientific writing aiming scientific outputs (posters, oral communications and full papers).
