Susana Nunes Silva

Biography
Susana Nunes Silva is a researcher at NOVA Medical School, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and an Assistant Professor at the same faculty, where she teaches Genetics. She has held a PhD in Life Sciences since 2010. She is dedicated to studying the impact of genetic variants on cancer susceptibility, particularly in breast and thyroid cancer. She has extensive experience in molecular genetics and is currently focused on investigating RNA transcription profiles in breast cancer cell lines using Nanopore sequencing. She is also involved in a project (as co–principal investigator) that studies the impact of MiRNA profiling in early-stage and metastatic uterine carcinosarcoma. She is group leader of the group ReGen – Genomic Integrity and Resistane, studying the molecular mechanisms underlying carcinogenesis, with a particular focus on DNA repair pathways and drug response.
