Teresa Magalhães

Teresa Magalhães, PhD in Public Health, Nova University of Lisbon (UNL), December 2016, is a Professor at the National School of Public Health (NSPH) of UNL. She have been working in recent years in the research and promotion of digital health and information management, having in her curriculum several projects and student orientations, PhDs, masters and post-graduations in the areas of: - Predictive models and efficiency models (in her PhD thesis she developed a predictive model where she studied the predictive factors of mortality and inpatient stay in acute myocardial infarction. This study was the basis of future work validation in machine learning that has been implemented with her students in the last years). - Telehealth – Coordinates a barometer on telehealth and artificial intelligence and is the basis of several studies of her students. A project of the Association of Portuguese Hospital Administrators in partnership with NSPH and others. - Telepharmacy - Teleconsultation - Telerehabilitation - Telemonitorization - Evaluation of health information systems - And others She developed and implemented with several partners a Digital Health course in the NSPH that she coordinates (see here: https://www.ensp.unl.pt/courses/short-term/digital-health-summer-course/). Also she have interests of research in the areas of hospital resources efficiency and sustainability where she promotes and coordinates a discipline of technologies and hospital equipment’s with areas as hospital architecture, ergonomics, lean and logistics, facilities maintenance and innovative technologies. She is also an Hospital Administrator with Hospital management activity over the last years in: - CEO of Portuguese Red Cross Hospital. From 2018 until 2020. - Advisor of the President of the Board for the area of innovation and information technologies. Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Lisboa Norte (CHULN). 2017-2018. - Hospital administrator at blood and vessels department where she developed a telemonitorization project on Heart failure (the project was published recently in here: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdfdirect/10.1002/ehf2.12999). CHULN. From 2016 until 2018. - Hospital administrator at pediatrics department. CHULN. From 2016 until 2017. - Board member at Centro Hospitalar de Setúbal (CHS). From 2009 until 2016. - Hospital administrator at production services at CHS. From 2005 until 2009. In her previous experience she has been 6 years of consulting in the areas of information systems strategy and its design and implementation in Accenture consulting. From 1997 until 2003. Other activities where she is involved: - Coordinator of the Information Management Working Group at the APAH. - Member of the Comprehensive Health Research Center (CHRC) of the Nova University of Lisbon. - Member of the European Health Management Association (EHMA) Scientific Advisory Committee. - Member of the Innovation and Value Council and the Sustainability Council of the Nova University of Lisbon In the last five years she has attended 40 conferences and/or Congresses where she was speaker, moderator or abstract presenter. It has published seven articles in the last five years and is coordinating the edition of a book to be published in 2021 on digital transformation in health. She participated in chapters of two books to be published in 2021.
