CHRC researcher and Professor at ENSP-NOVA, Julian Perelman contributed to the “The State of the Nation and Public Policies” Report as author of the chapter dedicated to the health area, along with Prof. Gonçalo Santinha from University of Aveiro.

A diagnosis was made on the social and structural problems regarding access to health services in Portugal. The main themes addressed in this chapter were the inequality of access to health, including the level of risk of infection by COVID 19 differentiated by socio-economic strata of the population and the possible consequences of Decentralization in Health. This intervention carried out by Professors Julian Perelman and Gonçalo Santinha is important to create a discussion at the level of health policies that aim to improve structural and socio-economic problems in the area of health.

The “The State of the Nation and Public Policies” report is an initiative of IPPS-ISCTE that presents an annual publication before the parliamentary debate on the State of the Nation. The main goal is to promote a discussion on public interventions that have an impact on the structural development of Portugal.
