Manuel Lopes receives Medal of Distinguished Services from the Ministry of Health

Manuel Lopes, member of the Directors Board of CHRC and Director of the Nursing School of São João de Deus from University of Évora, was awarded with the Medal of Distinguished Services by the Portuguese Ministry of Health in recognition of his career and work carried out in the area of Public Health.

This distinction main goal is “to reward people, organizations or institutions that have practiced acts of selflessness, charity, altruism or beneficence, or have provided services relevant to public health or social assistance.”

“I put the best of myself into everything I did. It’s also true that along this path I have come across and surrounded myself with people filled with this spirit in the direction of public service. Finally, I acknowledge that some of my activities had some public exposure. But, none of this led me to think that I would be worthy of such a distinction! So, of course, I attach meaning to it and I am pleased to see that my work was and is recognized as it made a difference. However, as I mentioned earlier, I did not make this journey alone. Therefore, I dedicate this distinction to all those who walked with me and believed in me. I also dedicate it to all health professionals who fight every day to preserve the National Health Service, providing care to all the people who seek them.” – said Manuel Lopes to the Communication of the University of Évora, also celebrating his 40 years of service to public health and the community."

Manuel Lopes will receive this distinction today at INFARMED.
