Study from CHRC researchers highlighted at FPF

The study called “The multidimensional characterization of football players’ performance in competition” was carried out by a group of researchers and students from the University of Évora – Department of Sport and Health and from CHRC, in collaboration with the Portuguese Football Federation.

The study was promoted by Professors Hugo Folgado together with PhD students in Human Motricity, João Teixeira and Paulo Pereira and Professor Bruno Gonçalves, all of them from CHRC. It also had the collaboration of graduated students in Sports Science.

Monitoring took place in 42 matches, with all participating sets being subject to at least two monitorings. Technical, tactical and physical data were collected. The indicators collection was carried out through GPS in games of all stages of the 2022 edition of the Lopes da Silva Tournament.

This data collection sought to characterize the performance of young competition football players, as well as to understand individual and collective actions with and without the ball, with the participation of all regional football associations of Portugal.
