VA Prevention kick-off Conference – Diabetes Prevention through a Digital Intervention

A kick-off meeting of VA Prevention was held in June at Egas Moniz School of Health & Science, which featured several presentations about the project, as well presentations from various stakeholders who are project partners. CHRC and ENSP-NOVA researchers made two presentations:

. Marta Moreira Marques – use of behavioral science in the development of VA Prevention's digital intervention;

. Joana Alves – Economic evaluation of the project's digital intervention.

The Va Prevention Project is a randomized controlled trial with cost-effective evaluation of a person-centered digital intervention for diabetes prevention in high-risk adults. This project is focused on the challenge of preventing T2D and work on 3 critical knowledge gaps within this area of expertise:

. To develop a a digital intervention for diabetes prevention using automated virtual health, from previous consortium work (VASelfCare, Train4Health);

. Evaluating its effectiveness and implementation, via a clinical study with a well-powered hybrid effectiveness-implementation and qualitative research, drawing on experience in prior projects (e.g. NoHoW, SEURO);

. Evaluating cost-effectiveness resorting to economic evaluation skills in preventive interventions (e.g. SILNE-R project).
