PLAY UP

PLAY UP is a research project developed in a preschool education context that aims to promote children’s overall development through active outdoor play. Based on scientific evidence that physical activity and play opportunities are crucial for health, as well as motor, cognitive, and socio-emotional development, the project proposes a semi-structured intervention that values preschool outdoor spaces as learning environments rich in action possibilities (affordances).

The intervention integrates both free and guided play activities tailored to the characteristics of each educational setting, engaging children, educators, and families through a participatory, co-created approach. At the same time, the project evaluates the impact of the intervention across various domains of child development specifically motor skills, executive functions, physical activity, and socio-emotional skill, contributing to the production of scientific knowledge and the promotion of evidence-based educational practices.
