NOVA Clinical Research Unit (NOVA CRU) is the academic Clinical Research Organisation from NOVA Medical School that provides comprehensive clinical study management services. These services are designed to support research teams in conducting high-quality studies that comply with ICH-GCP guidelines, as well as National and European regulations and legislations. NOVA CRU’s offerings encompass the entire spectrum of clinical research, from early study design and protocol development to the delivery of final results and publication. The unit has successfully managed clinical studies involving medicines, advanced therapies, and medical devices across a wide range of therapeutic areas, including rheumatology, neurology, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, infectious diseases, and oncology. Additionally, NOVA CRU has specialised expertise in the design and implementation of clinical studies for medical devices and in vitro diagnostic medical devices, in line with MDR and IVDR standards. With clinical coordination teams permanently based at four hospital units, NOVA CRU support the day-to-day tasks of clinical researchers in the real-world settings. NOVA CRU is a member of the Portuguese Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (PtCRIN), which is a member of the European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (ECRIN). Collaborating with healthcare institutions, CHRC researchers, and PtCRIN, the national partner of ECRIN, NOVA CRU supports investigator and industry-initiated clinical trials and facilitates the internationalisation of clinical research, ensuring that all trials meet the highest scientific and ethical standards for impactful results.
