Paulo Paixão, President of the XIV National Congress of Clinical Pathology
Paulo Paixão, specialized in virology and a researcher at CHRC, presided over the XIV National Congress of Clinical Pathology, which took place on March 14-15, organized by the Portuguese Society of Clinical Pathology (SPPC).
The National Congress of Clinical Pathology has been an important opportunity for bringing together healthcare professionals linked to Clinical Pathology, among other specialties. It offered several current topics to participants, presented by renowned national and international scientists, with the goal of fostering contact among the different actors in Laboratory Medicine, sharing and deepening knowledge, scientific advancements, and the consolidation of skills, always focusing on collaborative diagnostic practice.
This edition revolved around the theme "Expertise in Focus – The Clinical Pathologist's Perspective on Diagnosis," highlighting the role of the clinical pathologist as an essential partner to clinicians in establishing accurate diagnoses—the foundation of effective and personalized medical practice.
The event also featured the participation of Conceição Calhau, Deputy Director of NOVA Medical School, in the scientific session "The Clinical Laboratory and Lifestyle," and Carlos Palos in the scientific session "New Antibotherapy Guidelines."
