A team of Portuguese researchers is developing TwinCare, an innovative technology that creates a “digital twin” of the human body, a virtual model that replicates each patient’s individual characteristics to support doctors in making faster and more personalized clinical decisions.

Coordinated by Ana Rita Londral, a researcher at CHRC, the project also features the participation of Ana Rodrigues, coordinator of CHRC. At this stage, it is being implemented at the Almada Local Health Unit, focusing on patients with hip and knee osteoarthritis and frequent users of primary care centers. Integrated into the European strategy for personalized medicine, TwinCare aims to improve prevention, optimize healthcare, and promote a more efficient use of National Health Service (SNS) resources.
