Involuntary admissions, forced medication, or isolated patients. Deborah Aluh investigates the factors that influence the use and perception of these and other practices in mental health care in Portugal’s National Health Service.
(...) in March of this year, she moved to the capital, continuing her research at the Comprehensive Health Research Center (CHRC) of the Nova Medical School, the research center where she was integrated, in collaboration with ISMG. Objective: “trying to contribute to improving the provision of Portuguese mental health services”, recognized as a serious public problem.

By 2023, the researcher will not only try to map the organization of the mental health system around here and collect data on practices but also analyze the main factors that influence the use of coercion - or perception of coercion - by asking patients and health professionals to better understand what drives these practices and devise strategies to reduce them.
