On July 9th and 10th, the Workshop Internacional dedicado à valorização da lavândula e de outras Plantas Aromáticas e Medicinais took place, promoted within the scope of the CHRC research project - LAVida: Lavender as a source of bioactive compounds in the fight against obesity.
The initiative brought together researchers, experts, industry professionals, and other interested parties to reflect on the potential of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants as sources of bioactive compounds, with applications in health promotion and the prevention of metabolic diseases, particularly obesity.
The first day featured a panel of experts in the field, including Marco de Souza from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, Mónica Zuzarte from the University of Coimbra, Branca Silva from the University of Beira Interior, and professors Elsa Lamy and Jorge Bravo from the University of Évora, who shared their perspectives on obesity prevention.
On the second day, participants visited B'Aromatic, where they had the opportunity to discover and observe different species of aromatic and medicinal plants, as well as participate in harvesting them. The day concluded with a cyanotype artistic activity, exploring the connection between science, nature, and artistic expression.
We extend our gratitude to all speakers and participants for their presence, scientific contributions, and knowledge sharing, which made this workshop an important space for reflection and collaboration, reinforcing the role of research in the valorization of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants.
