Sónia Dias, CHRC researcher, highlights the importance of community participation in promoting migrant health.

Sónia Dias, researcher at the CHRC – Comprehensive Health Research Centre, member of the CHRC Executive Committee, and Director of the National School of Public Health of NOVA University Lisbon, participated in the European meeting “Participatory approaches to improve the health and wellbeing of migrants in Europe”, held at the University of Limerick, Ireland.

The event brought together researchers, policymakers, health professionals, and representatives of migrant communities to discuss the role of participatory approaches in research, public policies, and the development of more inclusive health responses.

Sónia Dias highlighted that promoting the health of migrant populations must be based on scientific evidence, active community participation, and collaboration across different sectors. She reinforced the importance of developing policies and practices that promote health equity and contribute to more inclusive, resilient health systems capable of responding to population diversity.
