SPLIT program approved to integrate the Sustainable Health Pact (PaSSus) 2030
The SPLIT Program, coordinated by researchers from CHRC and the School of Health from the Setubal Polytechnic University, NOVA Medical School and in partnership with the Regional Health Administration of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, has just been selected to integrate the 1st phase of the Sustainable Health Pact (PaSSus) 2030. This program aims to improve the quality, clinical results and cost-utility of care provided to patients with low back pain, through the implementation of an innovative model of stratified Physiotherapy treatment, in the context of primary health care.
After the official selection for the Sustainable Health Pact, Professor and Researcher Eduardo Cruz publicly signed the commitment on February 21st, at the launch of the implementation of PNS 2030, at the Aga Khan Foundation - Lisbon Ismaili Center, representing the entire team of researchers from the several institutions mentioned above.
The results of this program demonstrate the effectiveness of the innovative tools and strategies applied to treat low back pain, thus fulfilling the expectation of improving the quality, clinical results and cost-utility of care provided to these patients. The study sample included the participation of 500 recruited patients and this program reduced the likelihood of users developing persistent and disabling low back pain by around 80% and reduced the prescription of complementary resources of diagnosis and medication by around 30%.
The SPLIT Program was developed by a research group, including clinicians and researchers from CHRC, the School of Health from the Setubal Polytechnic University and the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the NOVA University of Lisbon, in partnership with the Regional Health Administration of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo through the Arrábida Primary Health Care Centre, co-funding by the Lisbon Regional Operational Program, in the FEDER component and by the Foundation for Science and Technology, at national level – OE.
